New Patent for Preventing Pneumonia

Pneumonia refers to inflammation or swelling of lung tissue, where the alveoli are filled with pus or other fluids, hindering the oxygen in the lungs from reaching the bloodstream. Viral pneumonia refers to pneumonia caused by viruses, caused by upper respiratory tract virus infection and downward spread of lung inflammation. Data shows that influenza virus is the most common virus causing viral pneumonia.

At present, common treatment methods for viral pneumonia include drug therapy and oxygen therapy, among which drug therapy includes Western medicine treatment and traditional Chinese medicine treatment. Western medicine treatment mainly uses antibiotics, immune preparations, anticholinergic drugs and other methods, which may have side effects and drug resistance. Patients are prone to gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and some may also experience headaches. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment generally formulates suitable Chinese medicine prescriptions based on the patient's condition, but Chinese medicine combinations often have preventive and adjuvant therapeutic effects, resulting in slow onset and poor healing effects. Oxygen therapy is a treatment that corrects hypoxemia, prevents respiratory failure, and pulmonary and cerebral edema. Nasal vestibular catheters are commonly used to continuously inhale oxygen until the hypoxia disappears before stopping. This treatment method can easily lead to adverse side effects, such as diffuse pulmonary fibrosis, retrocrystalline fibrosis, etc.

In response to the technical problem of significant side effects or slow efficacy in existing treatment methods for viral pneumonia, the present invention provides a method for preventing and treating pneumonia using Lactobacillus reuterii JYLB-151 and its application.
